While most toilets are still gravity flush being installed some residential and commercial clients are switching to power flush. The main reason for the switch has to do with the newer toilets being 1.6 gallon flushes instead of the 3.6 gallons per flush. Back in the day before the 1.6 gallon flushing toilets were announced toilet didn’t clog up as much due to all the water pressure behind the flush. The reason for the switch was to save on water and money.
While gravity toilets are still the number one buy due to cost they still work fine if the user doesn’t abuse the situation. While you have a power flush toilet of gravity flush they still can both get clogged if the right amount of debris all goes down at the same time. The key to not having a clogged toilet is by knowing and understand how your particular toilet works. We suggest not using the thickest toilet paper in the new 1/6 gallon flushing toilets.
The power flushing toilet is like the Mercedes of the toilet industry. Though not many people know how to replace parts this toilet will treat you well and you’ll almost never have to worry about clogs. When parts malfunction and wear our a plumber will have to install new parts and maybe have to order a cartridge from out of town. Some supply houses carry them but being that each batch has a different model most need to be specially ordered.
When weighing the pros and cons one which toilet to buy the main factors are the following:
1. Cost
2. In case of malfunctioning toilet do you have a back up toilet
3. Cost

The main difference comes down to cost they are pricey, just starting installation for a power flush toilet is just under $525 (with toilet).
It only takes roughly $300 to install a normal gravity flushing toilet (with toilet). Our company has installed pricey gravity flushing toilets as well, with the unit just costing under $800.

Add up your own pros and cons before purchasing anything in life and we know you’ll make the right decisions. Always ask family and friends and take your time to make any big decision.
